Angels sent by God to guide me,
Be my light and walk beside me.
Be my guardian and protect me.
On the paths of life direct me.
Amen.

God created the angels to serve Him and his people. If there is anything we can learn from the Bible about angels, it's that they are real. Angels exist.

CHRIST IS SUPERIOR TO THE ANGELS
--Hebrews 1:4-8, 13-14
...having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. For to which of the angels did He ever say: "You are My Son, today I have begotten You"?c And again: "I will be to Him a Father, and He shall be to Me a Son"?d But when He again brings the first born into the world, He says: "Let all the angels of God worship Him."e And of the angels He says: "Who makes his angels spirits and His ministers a flame of fire."f But to the Son He says: "Your throne, o God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of your kingdom..." But to which of the angels has He ever said: "Sit at My right hand, till I make Your enemies Your footstool"?g Aren't they all ministering spirits sent out to minister for the ones who will be granted salvation? They are subservient to Christ. Christ is God's "only begotten Son," and angels stand ready to serve at a moment's notice.

1 Peter 1:12
To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from Heaven-things which angels desire to look into.
Christ sits at the "right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent that theirs"(above). In what many scholars believe to be a hymn, early Christians sang that God gave Christ:
the name that is above every name,
so that at the name of Jesus
    every knee should bend,
    in heaven and on earth,
and of those under the earth,
    and that every tongue should
confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:9-11)

In Matthew 18:10, Jesus points to a child and said of children, "In Heaven their angels continually see the face of my Father in Heaven."

AN ANGEL ANNOUNCES THE RESURRECTION
--Matthew 28:1-7
Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door,  and sat on it. His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men. But the angel answered and said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see him. Behold, I have told you."

Although angels stand before the face and in the presence of God and His son Christ, yet they are hard by and about us.~~Martin Luther

A common opinion of philosophers is that higher angels understand things with fewer, more far-reaching ideas than lower angels, who need many more less inclusive ideas to comprehend.

St. Frances of Rome
Here’s a brief description of St. Frances’ (of Rome) encounters with angels:

St. Frances is a Christian saint who was blessed with daily guidance by angels.  She was presented with two guardian angels at birth, and they never showed themselves to her in a theatrical way.  Instead, she was first led by an archangel, then by a power.  Her repeated visits from angels started when her first son, Evangelista passed away at 9 years old.  Just before his passing, he said that angels had come to take him home.  One year after the passing of her son, she had a remarkable vision that lasted for an hour.  Her small chapel, at dawn, filled itself with a radiant light.  She beheld her son, who was accompanied by a handsome boy.  Evangelista told his mother that he was now the second choir of the first hierarchy of angels, and then he continued by introducing his mother to his companion, an archangel whose place was above Evangelista’s.  He also told his mother that God has sent her this archangel, and day or night this angel would not leave her.  She would also be blessed to be able to see this archangel with her “bodily eyes.”  He then said he had to return home, and to let the sight of her angel remind her of him.
Frances never saw her son again after that. She dropped down to her knees and begged the archangel to help guide her growth spiritually and in fighting evil.  After she left the chapel, the angel’s oratory followed her and a halo of light embraced her. No one else could see the light or the angel.  At first she could not look at the angel because his brightness hurt her eyes, however, after awhile she could look at the angel and see his features. If she committed even a small sin or mistake, the angel disappeared and would not come back into her sight until after she confessed. The angel’s guidance mainly focused on Frances’ worries as head of the family.  He continued to reassure her of God’s love, and that she was not alone.
Frances was in a constant battle with evil spirits.  The angel, like Samson, had power in his hair. When Frances would call on the angel for help, he would shake his hair and the spirits would get scared and leave.  The archangel stayed with Frances for 24 years. In 1436 God showed her a vision. In the vision, He was sitting on an elevated throne and was surrounded by a countless number of angels. God then appointed one of the higher ranking powers to take the place of the archangel. In his left hand he carried 3 golden palm branches.  The palm branches symbolized 3 strengths he helped Frances gain: charity, firmness, and prudence.  The power stayed with Frances for four years when she died.
